I think back then, this must have been an amazing story, 8 storylines and all… Mind you, I am speaking while comparing to current day RPGs, not in its time period. I just loved the overall feeling that was present but it just did not do the trick to make me look past the problems this game had. The lack of guidance, the repetitiveness, … They are just too present and you can not just look past them. I just lost my interest in several of the storylines right from the bat and while I do love a good old skool RPG from time to time, I guess SaGa Frontier Remastered just did not cut it. So yes, it looks great and you would call it a very successful remaster, but also a surprisingly disappointing one. I also had my fair share of annoyances with the Red storyline and the complete lack of any guidance. Same for just about every special move, they sadly do get stale. Sure, the animation of turning into a superhero is cool, but not after hundreds of times. It really is all the typical RPG lore, I would say.īut there is also a downside, a lot of that lore, it felt outdated to me. The story unfolding as expected, the usual surprises and curveballs throughout the game. From classic turn-based attacks to over the top animations that literally get repeated every single move. First, the amazing old skool RPG, it is really all there. Personally, I thought the game had two faces. They do overlap at some points and with this remaster, some added content is present for the fans of the game. Usually when I look at games like these, classics in the purest sense of the word, I try to see if I would really go all the way and in this game specifically, with its 8 storylines, it is more than difficult to really say. With beautiful graphics, as well as the addition of new events and features, SaGa Frontier Remastered is an experience not to be missed! Challenge yourself in nail-biting battles by using “glimmer” as well as learning new skills such as the ability to fire consecutive special attacks from multiple team members. This in-depth system will allow you to manipulate and expand a story all your own.
